Handbuilding and ceramic decoration workshop: 16-hours divided into 4 sessions of 4 hours each.

The handbuilding and ceramic decoration workshop is very useful as a first contact with the clay and its vast possibilities. Once completed, you can practice the acquired skills independently, or continue moving towards more complex projects in our ongoing courses.
Mastering the hand-building and ceramic decoration techniques as well as acknowledge the optimal times and conditions to apply each, are key elements to conceiving our projects.

The handbuilding and ceramic decoration workshop will stimulate your imagination and will allow your creative self to florish. We will stick to an easy going programme, personalized and adapted to your aims as well as to all leves and skils.

How are we going to work:

Day 1: theoretical introduction. Handbuilding techniques as pinch pottery and coil building
Day 2: slab building
Day 3: the emptying (a piece constructed from a block of clay)
Day 4: decorating the pieces with engobes: slip trailing, marbling, sgraffito, mishima, stencils, brush, sponge. Presentation of all the finished work, analysis and conclusions
A few days after the workshop, we will glaze and fire your pieces and we will give you a note to come and pick them up. If you don’t leave in Barcelona, we will wrap and ship them to you. Please consider this as an additional cost dependent upon your home location.

No previous experience is necessary
The classes are comprised of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 people to ensure a personalized service
We provide all the materials and tools that your creative process may need, including work clothes
If requested, we also offer the course as an individual class (ask for price and availability)
If, at the end of this course, you decide to continue practicing your skills and take a 137º membership, you’ll get 15% discount on the subsription deposit.
