DAY 1 – POTTER’S WHEEL
– Learn to knead clay; center clay on the wheel; create basic forms like cylinders, bowls, and plates.
DAY 2 – HAND-BUILDING
– Understand the properties and characteristics of different types of clay: terracotta, stoneware, and porcelain.
– Make pieces using pinch, slab, and coil techniques.
– Apply textures.
DAY 3 – POTTER’S WHEEL FINISHING
– Review and practice trimming and finishing techniques.
– Create and attach handles and feet.
– Introduction to slip decoration and application methods: slip trailer, marbling, sgraffito, mishima, stencils, brush, sponge.
– Troubleshooting common issues encountered on the wheel.
DAY 4 – HAND-BUILDING FINISHING
– Finish created pieces: add knobs to lids, feet, handles, perforations, reliefs, etc.
– Decorate pieces with slips – application of slips with brush, sponge, slip trailer, sgraffito, mishima, stencils.
– Presentation of completed works, troubleshooting common issues, and conclusions.
