Plaster Molds Making: 20-hour workshop divided into 5 sessions of 4 hours each.

 

  • The plaster molds making course contemplates the plaster as a very important tool in the work of every ceramist. You will be taught how to choose the plaster and how to prepare it according to the needs of your project. You will create a multiple part mold.
  • You will learn how to make the best use of your molds and how to prepare and use the casting slips.

This plaster molds making workshop is very useful to develop your work as a ceramicist. You will be surprised by the infinite possibilities that the use of plaster adds to your projects.

 

You could create the object yourself around which you will build your plaster mold in our pottery wheel, sculpture, or handbuilding courses, which we have scheduled well in advance of this activity.

    *the price includes all the materials, the use of the tools and the firing of your finished pieces.

    *the price does not include, if needed, the shipping of your pieces. Please consider shipping as an additional cost dependent upon your home location.

How are we going to work:

  • You will be provided with some objects to choose one and build your plaster mold around it. You also have the option to bring your own object, which can be of organic origin (preferably rigid and without seeds or other small elements that may detach from its surface), manufactured, bought, found, or even made by yourself.

 

  • You will work with porcelain slip in the dry molds provided by us. You will learn to make alterations to the pieces obtained from the molds such as adding, deforming, piercing, etc.

Note that:

  • Previous experience with ceramics is desirable but not required;
  • Classes are comprised of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 people to ensure personalized attention;
  • We provide all the of the materials and tools that your creative process may need;
  • If requested, we also offer the course as an individual class (ask for price and availability);
  • Bring comfortable clothes and a lunch box or a sandwich as there will be many hours and we will take a break for lunch. Water and soft drinks will be provided by us.
