We will use low temperature clay (900 degrees) to build, with hand modeling techniques, utilitarian or sculptural pieces. They should not measure more than 15 to 20 centimeters. We will use using engobes, burnishing or incisions to decorate our pieces, according with the purpose of each.
For the construction of the primitive kiln, we will make a reconnaissance of materials and raw materials present in the environment and we will choose those that can be mixed with clay, the essential material in the construction of the kiln.
We will build a clay kiln with a pit at low level to burn our pieces in a primitive way. Once finished we will feed it with wood and fire it for 5 hours, taking the opportunity to share ideas and reflections on the process, also make cultural exchanges between teacher and participants.
We are very proud of our students creations. Visit our Instagram and Facebook pages to see what they’re up to!
