Sculpture Summer School

The sculpture course will give you a very clear idea of the possibilities of working with clay in volumes, shapes, and textures. Once completed, you can practice the techniques independently in your own workshop, or you will have the opportunity to decorate your piece or group of pieces with surprising effects in our raku course. Alternatively, you can work on that unique design project you’ve been imagining and drawing inspiration from, to later use it as a prototype and create a mold in our plaster mold-making course.

How are we going to work:

• We will begin with a theoretical introduction to the art of volume and its expression modalities. We will accompany the process with practical exercises aimed at getting to know and understand the properties of a few different clay bodies, in order to choose the one that is the best for our project;
• Starting from a given concept, we begin to sketch our sculpture;
• We will proceed to the construction of our sculptural piece, using techniques such as clay carving, adding, removing, substracting;
• The final sessions of the course will be dedicated to finishing and decorating our sculpture;
• Once all the finishing touches are done we leave the piece to dry in the studio, we will fire it for you and we will give you a note once it’s finished and ready to be picked up.

Note that:

• No previous experience is necessary;
• The classes are comprised of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 people to ensure a personalized service;
• We provide all the materials and tools that your creative process may need, this also includes the work apron;
• If requested, we also offer the course as an individual class (ask for price and availability);
• Bring comfortable clothes and a lunch box or a sandwich as there will be many hours and we will take a break for lunch. Water and soft drinks will be provided by us.
